Ciel et Terre (CTI, France) was early to provide utility-scale FPV solutions. Since 2011, they have installed 1.2 GWp globally, with 1.0 GWp under development. Their subsidiary Laketricity (LKY, France), devoted to utility-scale FPV projects development, has developed over 99 projects in 10 countries. CTI and LKY will build a 5 MW FPV pilot plant situated in Italy, using CTI’s recently prototyped technology. This new solution is a radical departure from their existing Hydrelio technology. It provides reduced costs, increased sustainability, and expanded waterbodies suitability
The development of this technology, in line with Ciel et Terre International (CTI) and Lacketricity (LKY) practices, requires the co-optimization of material sustainability, operation and maintenance practices, ecologically beneficial spaces, FPV reliability, and the reduction of the Levelized Cost of Energy
CTI and LKY will build a 5 MW pilot during the SuRE project. This 5 MW pilot will cover at least 5 hectares using a minimum of 8000 modules of 650 W. Sensors will be installed on the site to provide data even beyond the project’s duration, to continue improving technology performances and measure its impact on water quality and biodiversity.
Preliminary to this 5 MWc pilot installation, a pre-pilot of 100 kWp was installed on CTI test site. It allows to anticipate the deployment of main pilot by evaluating both CTI’s new solution and monitoring system.
